Albanian journalists from print and electronic media visited EU funded projects in Kavaja, Lushnja, Apollonia and Fier. Together with EU Delegation programme managers they visited the Employment Office in Kavaja offering new services in three levels, rehabilitated in the framework of the support for sector reforms. In Lushnja city they learned about EU Info Desks and the project Municipalities for Europe, part of the support for local governance in the 61 municipalities of the country.
During the visit at the Archaeological Park of Apollonia in Fier they saw the investments in cultural and historical heritage and were also informed on the newly city's infrastructure and water supply system.
Besides the preparation of project fiches with relevant information on the above mentioned projects, respective Task Managers from the EU Delegation to Albania, joined the press trip as well. They provided journalists with information and details about the projects implementation. Journalists addressed questions about the interventions and impact on the citizens’ life.
Journalists were briefed before the trip by the Head of EU Delegation to Albania Ambassador Romana Vlahutin and Head of Cooperation, Mr. Mario Mariani, which informed them about EU financial assistance, while encouraging them to actively participate in such press trips that will be organised all over Albania where EU has intervened.
This study visit, was part of a capacity building project implemented by EU Info Network, including a training for journalists on Communicating on EU Integration Issues organized in Tirana to strengthen the journalists skills in reporting about EU issues; study visit to EU institutions in Brussels aiming at increasing the Albanian journalists’ knowledge about European Institution and EU policies.
